Sen. Moore Recognized for Commitment to Massachusetts Students and Families
BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) received the 2016 Legislator of the Year Award from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC). The award, which is presented annually to a member of the Legislature, recognizes policymakers who contribute thoughtful and effective advocacy on behalf of Massachusetts students and their families. Senator Moore was presented with the award at the MASC annual conference held in Hyannis earlier this week.
"I am deeply honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Senator Moore, who serves as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education. “Putting students first—that’s my philosophy. I take great pride in advocating for the needs of students throughout the Second Worcester District and across the Commonwealth. As a former selectman, I also recognize the needs of local communities and the importance of local aid to support our public education system. I look forward to continuing to advocate for enhanced opportunities for students so that they may achieve their educational and career goals.”
MASC is a member-driven association whose mission “is to support Massachusetts school leaders in their increasingly complex governance role.” For more information about MASC, please visit www.masc.org.
