BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) expressed his appreciation to three residents of the Second Worcester District for completing summer internships in his State House Office.
“Interns provide a valuable service to my staff and constituents alike,” said Sen. Moore. “Liam, Andrew and Wayne are quick learners, and I am very impressed with their hard work and eagerness to assist others. I’m sure they have learned quite a bit during their time with my office.”
Liam Gribbons
Liam Gribbons, the son of William and Elizabeth Gribbons, currently attends Bentley University where he majors in Public Policy and Business Studies. At Auburn High School, Liam was part of an Advanced Placement Government course that partook in a civic engagement competition known as “We The People.” Having won the state championship, Liam accompanied the Auburn team to Washington D.C. to compete at the national level.
This fall, Liam will be returning to Washington to for a semester to intern on Capitol Hill. Liam maintains an active presence in the Auburn community, helping his parents and Auburn’s Youth and Family Services with a “Back to School” Program and a Coat Drive every year.
Wayne Huston
Wayne Huston, the son of Wayne and Kathleen Huston, is going into his senior year at Merrimack College where he majors in Philosophy and minors in U.S. Politics and Music. This will be his second year as a member of the Student Government Association on campus, for which he will be serving as Secretary this coming semester. On campus, Wayne works as a peer mentor for the Compass Program where he tutors freshman. Wayne is also the Vice President and Editor of The Capitoline, a small, politically oriented website aimed at educating college students and recent post-grads.
Andrew Swenson
Andrew, the son of Erica Monfreda and Jeff Bulger, currently attends Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, Vermont. Andrew is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in mathematics. As an engaged member of the student body, Andrew currently serves as president of the class of 2018, as well as vice-president and captain of the school’s rugby club. Earlier this year, Andrew also participated in the Citizens’ Legislative Seminar at the State House where he participated in presentations by Senators and staff on aspects of the day-to-day experience of legislators on Beacon Hill.
Interns in Sen. Moore’s State House office assist with daily office operations, conduct legislative research, attend informational seminars with legislators and constitutional officers, and have a first-hand opportunity to observe the Massachusetts legislative process.
