Sen. Moore Appointed to Serve as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security

BOSTON— Senator Michael Moore (D-Millbury) was appointed by Senate President Rosenberg (D-Amherst) today to serve as Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security. Moore previously served as the Acting Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security after serving as the Senate Vice-Chair.

“Senator Moore brings years of professional knowledge and experience in public safety to his new role as Senate chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security,” said Senate President Rosenberg. “Throughout his time with the Environmental Police and in public service, Senator Moore has demonstrated tireless commitment to important safety and security issues facing the Commonwealth.”

“Given my background and professional experiences, I am particularly excited to have the opportunity to serve as Chair,” said Senator Moore.  “There are many important issues facing the safety and security of our Commonwealth.  I thank Senate President Rosenberg for the opportunity to take a more active role in the development of public policy in this area.”

Moore is a graduate of Quinsigamond Community College and Western New England College and holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Western New England College. Moore is a graduate of the Waltham Police Academy, and served 22 years in law enforcement as an Environmental Police Officer for the Department of Environmental Police. Moore also served as an investigator in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
