Worcester-based Business Recognized for Innovative Manufacturing Processes
BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced that Wirefab, Inc. received a manufacturing award for their innovative and dynamic manufacturing processes. As a member of the Legislature’s Manufacturing Caucus, Senator Moore nominated Wirefab for the statewide recognition earlier this year.
Wirefab was founded in 1955 by Asbed B. Zakarian under the simple philosophy that a business built on quality will thrive. Sixty-three years later, Wirefab continues to offer high-quality service, design and manufacturing opportunities. The Worcester-based company operates an 80,000 square foot manufacturing and distribution facility specializing in aluminum and wire products for different industrial, electronic and baking industries.
“Wirefab is most deserving of this recognition for their outstanding contributions to our regional economy and commitment to the community,” said Senator Moore. “Aside from employing local residents, Wirefab continues to value job creation, education, sustainability, production, and innovation. It’s great to have a manufacturing company like this in our area.”

“Wirefab has been an important manufacturer in the Blackstone Valley for decades and they realize the importance of training a skilled workforce,” stated Jeannie Hebert, President and CEO of the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Jim Samsel sits on the Blackstone Valley Education Hub Advisory Committee and donates his time and talent to the development of custom curriculums and apprenticeships for youth interested in a career path in manufacturing. He leads by example and his team reflects his philosophy. They are an asset to the region and the Commonwealth.”
In 1993, Wirefab became an Employee Stock Ownership Plan “ESOP” company which provides the company's workforce with an ownership interest in the business and continues to motivate its employees to succeed. For nearly half a century, Wirefab has continued to partner with area vocational and technical high schools to provide opportunities for local students. Most recently, the company has been involved with the Blackstone Valley Education Hub.
Wirefab is one of only a handful of companies in Massachusetts awarded by the Manufacturing Caucus for their manufacturing achievements. A formal awards ceremony was held at the State House to provide legislators with an opportunity to acknowledge manufacturers from their respective districts that stand out as employers, innovators, and model businesses.
Formed in August 2014, the Manufacturing Caucus includes more than 40 legislators from across the Commonwealth. The goal of the caucus is to increase Massachusetts’ competitiveness in manufacturing through legislative initiatives including efforts to close the skills gap. Lawmakers focus on training for manufacturing employees, helping start-ups access innovative resources, and expanding apprenticeship opportunities in key manufacturing sectors.
