Co-Presented by The Office of Economic Empowerment and People’s United Bank
BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) is highlighting a free workshop being presented by the Office of Economic Empowerment under the leadership of State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, and in partnership with People’s United Bank. The event will highlight information about financial education and security, and discuss how local residents can protect themselves from fraud.
“Fraudulent schemes are never okay, especially when targeted against the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Senator Moore. “Fortunately, events like this help to spread the word about financial security, and how to avoid falling victim to predatory scams. I commend Treasurer Goldberg for prioritizing this initiative to protect our neighbors, and I encourage local residents to attend.”
“Building robust financial literacy programs is a critical step toward strengthening economic security for everyone in Massachusetts,” said Treasurer Deborah Goldberg. “Educating our senior citizens about potential frauds and scams not only keeps this vulnerable population safe, but helps empowers them in making their own informed decisions."
The workshop is scheduled for Friday, November 16, 2018 from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM at the Worcester Senior Center located at 128 Providence Street. Light refreshments will be served and registration is recommended by contacting Kathy Esparza at (508) 799-1328.
