BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) welcomed Nathan Manna to the State House as part of the legislative internship program. Nathan is interning four days each week throughout the summer months.
Nathan, a rising junior at the College of the Holy Cross, is pursuing a double major of Gender and Sexuality Studies and Theatre. He recently completed his year abroad at the University of Sussex, Brighton UK, where he studied avant-garde directing, playwriting, and feminist film theory.
Nathan is actively involved in the LGBTQIA+ community of Worcester. He is currently serving as the Chair for Worcester Youth Pride, and the Parade Director for Worcester Pride. On campus, his many involvements include being the Coordinator for Sexual Health and Wellness Programming for the Student Health Awareness Peer Educators. In 2018, Nathan was named a SafeHome’s Person of Courage for his advocacy for LGBTQIA+ youth. Previously, he also served on the Steering Committee of the LGBT Asylum Task Force of Hadwen Park Church.
Last year he had the opportunity to work on a State Senate campaign, which is where he got his interest in State Government. While torn between pursuing a career in the arts, or government service, he hopes the internship will make him a better public citizen
