Sen. Moore Announces Funding Opportunity for Financial Literacy Programs

Nonprofit Organizations eligible for grant funding from Citizens Bank

BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) announced details of an initiative to assist nonprofit organizations with offering financial literacy programs to area residents.  Funding is available through Citizens Bank’s Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money financial literacy initiative.

“This is a great opportunity for both residents who are interested in strengthening their financial literacy skills and for nonprofit organizations interested in providing these types of programs” said Senator Moore, who also served as a member of Treasurer Deborah Goldberg’s Financial Literacy Task Force.  “I hope area organizations will take advantage of pursuing this funding.”

Interested nonprofit organizations are encouraged to submit an application for programs that would provide participants with an enhanced understanding of banking, asset building, budgeting, homeownership, foreclosure prevention, credit management or financial management for small businesses.  In 2015, Citizens Bank awarded 72 nonprofit organizations more than $1 million in contributions through the funding program.

To be considered for funding, eligible nonprofits in the communities served by Citizens Bank should submit an online application by January 20, 2017. Recipients will be announced in March 2017.  For more information, and to access an application, please click below.
