BOSTON – Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) and Representative Paul K. Frost (R-Auburn) announced that Accelerated Media Technologies, Inc. of Auburn has been awarded a grant through the Workforce Training Fund. The Program is administered by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD).
Funds for the Program are made available by Massachusetts employers via contributions made to unemployment insurance and offered in a partnership between EOLWD and the Commonwealth Corporation. The grant is offered to businesses and business consortiums in the Commonwealth to train newly-hired and current employees, and to ensure investment in the Massachusetts workforce. Accelerated Media Technologies was awarded a grant in the amount of $53,774 to train 37 workers with the anticipation of adding five additional positions by 2019.
“The Greater Worcester area possesses some of the most innovative, dynamic and successful companies within our Commonwealth,” said Senator Moore. “I am certainly very impressed by the contributions Accelerated Media Technologies has already made to the vibrancy of the area economy and I am confident that this grant opportunity will enhance efforts to promote productivity and competitiveness in the workplace.”
“These Workforce Training Grants incentivize businesses to operate and expand here in Massachusetts and in this case Auburn. They help businesses find trained employees and therefore provide local jobs. I am very pleased to see Accelerated Media Technologies receive this state grant.”
The Workforce Training Fund grants are awarded on a rolling basis over the course of the year with a maximum award of $250,000. In Fiscal Year 2017, approximately $17.95 million was awarded to train a total of 10,582 employees at 206 different companies. The Workforce Training Fund Program is a powerful resource for the Commonwealth’s businesses, as those companies who completed grants in 2017 added jobs at a rate of 8.21%, which is more than double the statewide average of 3.09%.
Grant funds awarded through the Workforce Training Fund Program are reviewed and awarded for the purpose of improving companies’ productivity and training of both current and newly-hired employees. To learn more about the Program, please click below.
