BOSTON – The Mass Audubon recently issued its “2015-2016 Report Card” to inform citizens of their legislators’ performances in protecting the nature of Massachusetts. Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) received a 100% score for his votes on over a dozen environmental bills and budget items.

“I’m proud to support legislative initiatives that enhance our environment and protect our natural surroundings,” said Moore, who formerly served as an Environmental Police Officer. “We have some the world’s most precious natural resources here in the Commonwealth and I view my role as a state legislator as an opportunity to ensure that these resources are protected for present and future generations.”

One of the policy initiatives supported by Senator Moore was an omnibus energy bill to diversify the state’s energy portfolio. The legislation procures additional clean energy resources to replace aging power plants that are going offline, and moves the Commonwealth closer to its emissions reduction goals under the Global Warming Solutions Act. The bill was ultimately signed into law by the Governor last August as Chapter 188 of the Acts of 2016.

This report card marks the 32nd consecutive year that Mass Audubon has reported on the environmental voting records of state legislators.
